OUR VISION OF THE IDEAL MODEL OF THE PARISH OF THE FUTURE
As a Eucharistic Community, we will strive to be a people fully alive, practicing, in our own lives, the qualities
of Christ, the Good Shepherd.
The values we want to live together are; being welcoming and hospitable, knowing
and trusting one another, inviting and accepting, encouraging and supporting, caring, nurturing and serving.
We
want to live these values in the different dimensions of our parish life and mission; in our multi-cultural gatherings, in
our recognition of people who live on their own and in our care for families, in family groups and in men's and women's groups,
in play groups for the little ones and in not forgetting the needs of the elderly. Through services of charity we desire to
offer pastoral care to the sick and needy.
We want to be people of hope, strengthened by prayerful liturgy and
devotions, opening ourselves to the gifts and fruits of the Spirit in the way of Mary. Lay ministries will be allowed to flourish
and will be promoted through ongoing formation. We want leaders formed in Christ.
In the existing estates and neighbourhoods
of the parish we envisage gathering for Home Masses and providing house blessings for those who wish.
As people
of hope we especially want you to feel included and involved in the parish. We want our children, whether at the parish school
(when they come ) or elsewhere, to be receiving catechesis.
We want to organize ourselves as a parish with different
bodies so that there is communication and consultation, and collaboration in decision-making, all working to implement the
decisions, everything lived in the spirit of dialogue.
As a parish of shared responsibility we plan to have adequate
facilities that are ultimately debt-free. Wanting to be outward looking, we will have a parish website open to all.
In all this we want to work together so as to express in our style of life, the love and care of the Good Shepherd.
